What do you lose by gripping down the shaft?
No childish smut, please.
Apart from distance, what other cons (if any) are there to gripping closer to the start of the grip?
And how much distance is actually lost?
Next time I'm down the range I'm going to try it to see if produces more consistency.

I would hazard a guess that a 5-iron would get the distance of a 6/7-iron, but fly lower and straighter.

Does depend how far down the shaft you do, but on average myself its about a clund and half in distance. But what you lose in distance you more than make up in control in the winter or windy conditions
