Who saw that coming? Matt Kuchar was hunted down by Matt Jones who then chips in for the win in the playoff and takes the final spot in the Masters.
In the GolfChatUK Fantasy League SetupDetermines was hunting LadyPutt but his four picks in the points was not enough to overhaul LadyPutt who had three picks in the points. BlueCoverman also had three picks in the points and that was enough to hold onto a podium finish. Mary_S and RedRage each had two picks score points while Davie and 1GrumpyGolfer had to make do with one. Davie's pick came second while 1GrumpyGolfer only just managed to crack the Top 20.
Rory McIlroy shot 65 for the low round and earned additional points for BlueCoverman, Mary_S, and RedRage. Bubba Dickerson ran out of gas after Monday qualifying and shot 79 for the worst round of the day. Roberto Castro finished last after his third round disaster. No one picked either of Dickerson or Castro.
The next event is the first major of the year which signals the start of golf season proper.

Points galore in the third round of the Shell Houston Open as scores were not as low as previous rounds, -1 was enough to earn bonus points and GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers tucked in, 1GrumpyGolfer excepted. Mary_S had one pick, RedRage, SetupDetermines, and Davie all had two picks in the points. BlueCoverman and LadyPutt each had three picks score points.
Matt Kuchar was one of the low scorers with a 68 and that gave Davie another 10 points. Rickie Fowler was the other player to shoot 68. Roberto Castro had a bit of a shocker with an 83.
A number of picks are still well placed and there's a lot to play for in this first event of the Spring/Summer session.

Scoring was very mixed in the second round of the Shell Houston Open, we had 65s and happy days and high 70s and pack your bags. We said goodbye to another 15 picks and that meant that cut bonuses were at a premium. Only three were paid out and LadyPutt got two of them. She fared the best out of the GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers with eight picks still standing plus her bonuses. SetupDetermines was the next best with six picks and he took the other cut bonus. BlueCoverman and RedRage both have to be content with five picks remaining. 1GrumpyGolfer, Davie, and Mary_S all have to make do with four picks.
We mentioned that 65s brought happy days, well, they also brought bonus points. Both Sergio Garcia and Jimmy Walker shot 65 to move well into contention; both were picks. LadyPutt has both of them. SetupDetermines and Mary_S both had Garica. There were a few high numbers and those players didn't need to withdraw as the cut toook care of them but the worst of the bunch was Troy Matteson with an 83.
Three picks occupy the top three spots and several others are well placed as we move into round three.

For the second week in a row a pick plays terribly, shoots the worst round, and then gets the hell out of town. BlueCoverman and 1GrumpyGolfer have been screwed by Dustbin Johnson out of full cut bonuses but get 10 points for pain and suffering.
Six under got you into the Top 5 Low Round scores and 5 picks shot 66 or better. Davie, LadyPutt, and 1GrumpyGolfer each had one pick meet or better that mark. SetupDetermines and BlueCoverman each had two picks in the Top 5. Mary and RedRage are failing to trouble the scorers at the moment.
The low round was 65 and both Bill Haas and Charley Hoffman had that number. Hoffman earned 1GrumpyGolfer additional bonus points. Johnson shot 80 before he withdrew.

The first event of the Spring/Summer session brings the final chance for Masters qualification and only a win will do. The Golf Club of Houston will be set to play hard and fast and the green complexes will be cut similarly to Augusta so plenty of run off areas will collect balls if they miss the target. Henrik Stenson is the headliner and the field strength has increased as players look to get that tune up for Augusta.
We are back to our regular three Categories but you still need to pick three, plus reserve, from each one. The additional cut bonus points are still on offer this time around. If you get all of your picks through in any category you get a small bonus. Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus. It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.
This is a full field with cut event, so cut points will be available; see above.

After wanting the practice Mary could be found wanting if she doesn't get a move on. First tee times at 1:20 in sunny England

Made the mistake of leaving a car out overnight on Tuesday and it had a nice coating of Sahara dust on it yesterday Davie. Doesn't seem to be quite as bad today though, quite a nice sunny afternoon.

If she wins, I'm getting half of her points as a bonus.
Anyway the 'special' list was the afternoon starters and only applied because Mary was late getting her picks in. If Davie, Setup, Red, or LP were late getting their picks in I would have done just the same.

Blue looks like he's started the Summer session as he left off the Winter one; 2 of his picks are atop the leaderboard after rounds of 66.
On the other hand Dustbin looks to have got off to a flier with just one par in his first four holes and he's propping up the leaderboard at +5.

Holy Moly! Dustbin throws in an 8 before making two birdies. His front 9 has everything from a 2 to an 8 on it.

1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman 30 points
SetupDetermines 20 points
Davie, LadyPutt 10 points
Mary_S, RedRage 0 points

Seung-Yul Noh and Nicolas Colsaerts are the latest to withdraw with shitgolfitis. Noh was +7 through 8 when he left play. Colsaerts didn't start by the look of it.

I think there was a link on the dark side to an article about these rubbish WDs becoming epidemic .. haven't had chance to read it yet but it does seem pretty bad. Knowing the US golf media though Noh and Colsaets will be vilified for it yet DJ and Phat Phil (last week) I'm sure have good excuses
