Daily News Rant Empty Daily News Rant

Post by Doc Wed Aug 28, 2013 1:20 am

Something new for a change, as there doesn't seem to be much action these days. So I may as well have a rant to myself each day regarding what's in the news.

Today seems to be all about Syria again, and the way Cameron seems to want to railroad us into another shooting match. What is it about our politicians, do they all fancy themselves as Churchill ffs. Yes Syria is run by a bad regime who are criminal, corrupt and commit genocide on an industrial scale, but surley this should be dealt with locally by some of the richest regimes in the world, who's daily oil rvenues are worth more than our anual GDP. We don't have an army, navy or air force these days as we've just laid them all off, and the rest are still over in Afghanistan after the last load of failed politicians fancied making a name for themselves. The United Nations is a farce and is the epitomy of a failed organisation who burns money with zero results. This organisation is doomed to failure because everyone has a seat at the table these days and most of them are only bothered about their own geopolitical standings. So if the UN can't agree on anything, then the US should stop paying billions into it and ask them to move their base to Russia. We should resign from it and save ourselves billions which we can use for the nation instead of propping up this load of despots.

I see we've started a trial on culling badgers, well about time I say and not because I'm a bloodthirsty fool, but because I'm sick of watching our farmers struggle. Bovine TB is heartbreaking for farmers who see their liveleyhoods wiped out and means no beef movements from their farms for a couple of years. Compensation is derisory and the years this thing has gone on is ridiculous. The science says that badgers are the cause of bovine TB therefore they need exterminating from farmland. As usual the media are portraying a country up in arms about it and protesting, but I suspect the majority of us just want to be able to be self sufficient from our own farms and not have to import as much. Importing our food only causes bigger problems when we get to eat horse instead of beef.

NHS food survey horror, we shouldn't be surprised really should we. The only comment I'll make is that recently I suffered a heart attack. The hospital saved ny life, they were fantastic and as soon as I had my stent fitted I was put onto the cardiac ward just in time for lunch. I ordered a burger ffs, truth is it was great as I was ravenous, but I couldn't believe they served me a burger on a cardiac ward.

I can't disagree with a word you have written.

On hospital food, when I had my hips replaced, I was in a private hospital (good old BUPA) and expected good food. It was all mostly stodge - remember, I wasn't able to get about and exercise - and I had to order the "small portions" (that's a joke for me) because I just couldn't eat it. They were surprised when all I wanted for breakfast was coffee, juice and toast. At lunch I would order soup and a sandwich - they couldn't understand why I didn't want a roll and butter with my soup as well!

I think it is about time we had a complete shake-up in the way the country is being run - or not, as the case may be Daily News Rant 398825057

Todays Update 28th August:

Folowing on from yesterday's Syrian debacle, the Sun have done a YouGov poll which clearly shows the feelings of the nation. In other words Cameron, leave it alone mate, for you're own good.

I see we are being taken to court by a muslim lady who was stopped and asked questions by the Borders Agency, she's saying she has had her Human rights infringed because she isn't a suspect - Sorry lady everyone's a suspect.

Another favourite of mine reared it's head yesterday but is still rolling along. HS2 is being rejected by business leaders from all over the country, and especially by people who will see their villages, land, farms, houses bought under a compulsery purchase order. The costs of this folly are escalating out of control, and you just know that by the time the first phase is finished in 2026 we won't be able to afford the rest of it which is supposed to link Leeds, manchester etc and is due for completion 4 years later. Its a joke and not worth the effort, when the east and west coast lines need investment along with road, and rail from around the nation. Already wasted £27m on conslutants ...

Its almost impossible to do anything in this country anymore. Last week it was a bunch of unemployables camping outside an portable oil drilling rig, with these layabouts showing how clever they were with their posters saying frack Off. The same people are now camped in woods where they think snipers are waiting to bag badgers. The amount of time it takes to get anything done over here is a joke. The fracking thing is required if we are to reduce our power bills, we need to get people out of fuel poverty but some won't have it because the world will blow up. These are the same people who wanted to get rid of coal and oil power stations and nuclear stations, and wanted wind, wave and anything else, but what they want is unfeasible and not cost effective and cannot produde enough. In fact these same people attend rallys to stop wind farms so reckon they just like locking up andwearing big jumpers. Imagine what will happen when they start HS2 and foget about another runway at Heathrow, maybe we should all sit in a cave and rub sticks together

I do wonder at times where these activists get the cash to support all their various campsites. They must either be incredibly rich or living off the land. I cant see them taking cash off of the government and the taxes they collect from these businesses they are trying to ruin....

Doc - I really like this Daily News rant thing and please keep it going ... I can see you are focusing on more serious issues which is great IMO but there are some less serious events too which need to be ranted about!

I'll start with Miley Cyrus on the less serious side . discuss?

Most people don't give a shit about her anyway but the coverage the news brings impinges on anyone who reads or watches news

I couldn't give a damn what she does but the news outlets try to cram her down our throats. To me she showed a complete lack of class and just looked like a little tart but did it deserve the coverage it got? I think not

Thursday 29th August:

Syria is going to be Dave's fall and after recalling Parlaiment for a vote today, it now seems he's had to climb down because he forgot that a war needs to be legal. UN inspectors won't have results until Monday and MP's want proof before voting. Even if it is proven that a chemical attack happened we need proof that the government did it> Poor Dave you make yourself look idiotic in your quest for greatness.

As I'm from Leeds I was chuffed to bits to see a Leeds businessman turning the tables on the 'cold-callers'. He set up his own 0871 number for a couple of quid and now every time some kid calls about PPI insurance or new windows they get charged 10p and 7p goes direct to the bloke. He's already made £300 and it now seems his daily calls are falling to the extent that he now only gets a few a month. Brilliant, maybe Dave should pick his brains and get some decent ideas.

Miley Cyrus is a teen darling created by Disney and her father. Her lot is fading so she and her PR needed to reinvent her and they chose soft porn, which will probably backfire on her and Disney. I wouldn't do her anyway ..

On a sad note I read the news about Cliff Morgan passing away. Rugby not my favourite sport, but I do remember that Welsh team of years gone by. I also remember watching Morgan as a sound broadcaster and pundit for many years. I believe he's a bit of an institution for Wales, the Lions, BBC and a very nice human being. Condolences

Friday 30th August and the weekend to look ahead to:

Poor old Dave made a massive career booboo and now ensured that whatever happens in Syria, the UK will not be part of any coalition. On the one hand I'm glad because theres nothing anyone can do as we don't have enough troops or equipment thanks to slashing the military. Its also sad that we lose some credibility around the world. The schoolboy Milliband has made a huge arse of himself and is now seen as an apologist for Assad and his regime.

I will be having a few drinks this weekend, but will probably not go overboard as what happened at Hockney's house recently. Seems everyone (Including the artist) were binge drinking, taking cocaine, ecstasy. temazapan etc, and one bloke then decided to drink some acid, the stuff that burns your mouth, throat and finaly stomach. Yes he died in a very strange way, almost reminiscent of the famous comedian, who I can no longer remember, who bum raped a bloke who was found dead in his pool.

Daily News Rant Empty Re: Daily News Rant

Post by Doc Sat Aug 31, 2013 1:07 am

So as it's the weekend I will leave you with some news that will be headlines over the next couple of days.

Firstly Dave is trying to keep his reputation intact, so after his heavy defeat last night he now wants to pick a fight with Spain over Gibralta. He today quoted that the UK would always stand by Gibralata against anyone ....

In recent times the oil and gas industry have come under heavy pressure, but the news today that the SuperPuma helicopters are now free to fly again should be looked upon with questions surley. Yes we are aware that the helicopters other than the SuperPuma's can only carry 50% of the rig crews each day and some 12,000 rig crew members are having an extended stay aboard because they can't be collected. So is this for expediancy, financial gain or a huge gamble?

Young Ed is now seen as a student union politician and not a statesman in waiting. This seems to be the way the media are now portraying the labour leader after last nights soap opera. he has damaged his credibilty and his party as well as the UK in general. Tony Blair had his faults but this arse needs his pocket money stopping. No wonder his brother fooked off to the States.

Apprenticeships are on the increase according to a new report published on the BBC. In tandem with this jamie oliver has had to try and defend his earlier comments of this week, where he stated that eastern european labour is better than ours. he does have a point and to give both stories some context: In April this year I started a new apprentice scheme, because I thought it would be good for the local kids who had no chance of a job after leaving school. It would be good PR for the company and at some stage it would enable me to move away from a reliance upon eastern european labour. I enrolled 16 kids and had a great sylabus arranged and after completion of the 2-year course there would be ajob and they would be fully qualified on various pieces of kit and have qualifications and talent. I have only 6 of these kids left simply because they have trouble getting out of bed. We've had excuses like; "my mum needed her telly moving". When these kids came i spoke to them all and told them that they would all be able to afford the latest phone, XBox and even a car by this time next year, when most of their mates would be on the dole. all they needed to do was get their heads down, learn a trade and be safe .... just forgot to remind them that they had to come to work as well.

I don't understand this furore over Cameron - the "meeja" are all crowing over his humiliation but I don't see it that way. He had his opinions and even though he is our nominal leader he put his opinions and his party on the line with a parliamentary vote; he lost the vote but declared although he still stood by his opinions, he respected the democracy of the country. Yet he's labelled "humiliated"

If only Tony B Liar had been so similarly humiliated. DC did the right thing as he saw it and lost. No humiliation there as I see it

The problem is that politicans these days are just that. Politicians before anything else. At least Cameron has the bollocks to actually state what his opinions are rather than wait for the outcome of the latest 2 dozen polls.

FYI I would have been happy to invade Syria. Nick their country, send in the oil boys, nick their oil, refine it here and then get cheap fuel that we can sell on the market to pay for the war whilst lowering oil taxation.

Then give it back when the wells are empty.

Honestly for englishmen there is a distinct lack of imperialism on here.

Not much action on this board anymore is there?

I'll give it one more chance with this thread as i've not bothered for a week.

Todays news highlights are dire really: Firstly something close to my heart, that civil servants don't live in the real world and cannot cope in the real world. It now seems MP's are getting sick of the amount of major cock-ups they do and huge costs they rack up. West Coast franchise costs, HS2 costs, every IT job they take on falls down and thats why the NHS has no joined up management, and now its the new tax credits. Yes there will be some brilliant people working in the civil service and some who want to serve without great reward, but the amount of cocks who manage are a blot on our society.

Secondly back to Syria and the Russian who stated that we are a small inconsequencial island who nobody takes any notice of. I probably agree with this, but our politicians like to big themselves up and this time, after that vote, we are out of the picture.

Finally and it just about sums up Welsh football. The team left for Macedonia without the manager who had lost his passport. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke, Colemanballs. he arrived well late after the press conference as he had to que for a new passport, can't believe it got preferencial treatment. Gareth Bale could have sent a private jet for him but he didn't, so Coleman had to go via Heathrow - dork

Doc the real issue with the civil service IT projects is the consultancies they employ.

The MoD have HP firmly embedded in senior positions for things like the closure of naval bases and new HR systems. Which then don't quite deliver (although I do know some of the PMs on those projects and they are very good).

It is hard to succeed in these things when using Deloitte for example and they see success as billing the highest amount possible for senior people whilst rotating the key staff in order to give them experience.

Poor service model for delivery of critical national projects. But it all comes down to what budget it comes from. In the end they can't lose the staff when the projects dry up and capital expenditure is a different pot than staff costs.

And then there was the PFI.... I remember when they rebuilt the GCHQ 'donut' at Cheltenham. cost in excess of £600M and a sensible building programme would have cost far less and probably been more future proof.

This news is a few days old now but did anyone notice that we are sending £50 million of taxpayers money to assist the refugees from Syria? Now don't get me wrong, I acknowledge the dreadful situation that these people are in, but why is it always us that is so generous with the hand-outs? Don't politicians realise just how hard we have to work just to pay our bloody tax bills?

Perhaps they think it raises our international standing by being seen as a generous benefactor. Maybe it goes some way into winning rebuilding contracts and all that malarkey. However doesn't it make us out to be some sort of soft touch and haven for those looking for handouts? How much better off as a country would we be if that kind of money, realising it's millions not billions, was spent at home?
