Titleist practice balls
I recently bought a dozen Titleist Pro V practice balls, they cost £25. As far as I can see, they are perfect in every way apart from the 'PRACTICE' stamped on them. I know in the old days, cross out balls where defective in some way so not allowed in competitions. Does the same apply to these Pro V's or are they OK for competition use at club level?
I'm convinced they are perfect balls but Titleist sell them as loss leaders to get people to convert to them.

Re: Titleist practice balls
I have heard they are not allowed but can't remember where I heard it! May just be ball cocks so needs checking, but wouldn't use them without checking. Especially against me because as you know I wouldn't spot it till 18th fairway in a tight match!!!!!!

Re: Titleist practice balls
They're not on the conforming ball list D4S. So not approved for use in competition.

Cheers LJ, not sure if the R&A conforming ball list applies to the Sunday rollup

Re: Titleist practice balls
Perhaps your choice of ball is to blame? Something more appropriate for a tapper. Lady Srixon maybe?

Nah. I'm going back to the old 1.62 balls, they go further into the wind.

You'd better believe it, and all I got was abuse for it. That's the very last time, out of the goodness of my heart, I take pity on a downtrodden waif and stray like LJ.
I believe he actually put it straight into his bag, then it was right on to Flea bay where he sold it for posterity.

LJ, do you call D4S a tapper as he puts a, hmm let's think about this one, a less than manly belt on the ball with the big stick? Could it be the Ginger sapped his mojo?

Grumps
It is perfectly acceptable to 'manly belt it' 175 yards with the big stick......isn't it??

Was it downhill and downwind on a rock hard fairway D4S
Congrats on getting it out there you big gorilla you. For it to be classed as a manly distance I believe your age must be at least 1.5 x your waist size.

No. It's because he enjoys 1930s musicals and wears spats to go out on the town.
