Who is up for golf in Bedford?
One LJ (aka Londonjonnyo) is throwing out a challenge to come and play two rounds of golf in 'his manor'. The morning round will be played at
www.themillbrook.com/pages.php/index.html which is his local course. The morning round to be followed by liquid refreshment accompanied with chilli-flavoured something. The afternoon round will take place at this venue http://www.aspleyguisegolfclub.co.uk/. I will be travelling up on Thursday 9th October, staying in the nearby travelodge (cheap as chips) having a beverage or 2 with the incomparable LJ prior to playing both of the above on Friday. Few pints and a ruby and then play LJ's course again on Saturday. If anyone wants more info or is interested please reply on here. We did a get-together a while back with the old 606 crowd and it was a good day out. Although I remember one SmithersJones taking all the booty that day. The Milford Members Club is par 74 and a real challenge (esp for me) and can only really be endured with a blinding hangover I feel

Do they not have internet in deepest, darkest Bedfordshire?
As that's my birthday week, and as kind of defending champion, I might be tempted. Any idea on cost?

Smithers. I will speak to LJ and get back to you. Travelodge (5 mins drive from course and quite close to chez LJ) is £30.00 per night. Aspley looked about £38.00 a round but I don't know if it would be cheaper on a County Card? LJ's course (which looks awesome) he should be able to get a deal on. We are hoping to get about 8 of us in total.

Just checked in with LJ and Millbrook is £25.00 on a Friday and £30.00 on a saturday (he should be able to get a bit of discount on that). Aspley is a possibility but he is checking out other courses. Reckons he should be able to do 3 rounds over 2 days with lunch included for less than £90.00.

I'd love to give it a go but all sounds too much for me.

I am here but have been away a fair bit. The curry will take place at this establishment.

The Bengal Jalfrezi is a particular favourite of mine.
As for the golf courses I will know on Monday. I'm a bit tied up tomorrow and Sunday as I am playing the club champs (36 holes sat) and am off to Woburn on Sunday with the little boy.
Chances are good for us getting something at less than 90 quid. Particularly as I have found a track (which isn't too bad) that will set us back 22 of your british pounds.

Davie. Would be really good if you could make it. At present I am the highest handicapper likely to be playing

I'm definitely in. Is anyone else up for this? Looks like a Billy Bargain at the above green fees.

LJ has done a great job getting those prices- well done mate. Sadly I will still have to pass though .. the time off work (and the curries) are just too much for me
A one off game though I'd definitely be up for though - would love to have a meet up with you guys

If the image is already online somewhere then you use the "insert an image" button on the toolbar (hover over them for a description). If the image is only on your own PC then you need the "host an image" button and follow the instructions.

Re: Who is up for golf in Bedford?
Yes and I would normally definitely be up for it. Unfortunately I have already got a couple of days off work that week (28 of us from my golf club on a jolly boys outing to the Belfry) and for that reason regret I will have to decline. Thanks for the invitation though, much appreciated.

No problem Blue. Thought you would enjoy LJ's course (and love of chillies). Another time. Hope you enjoy the Belfry

Re: Who is up for golf in Bedford?
Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking suggesting I might be able to do it. Just got back from a weekend at Abbotsley in Cambridgeshire, need to earn some brownie points before I can think about a round at home much less 2 more days away. Shame, as I'd really have liked to meet up again but no can do I'm afraid.

Re: Who is up for golf in Bedford?
You think you're gonna need brownie points?!
I am currently in Amsterdam for a few days. I get back Thursday and then my uncle and THE RINGER arrive at my house. I then intend to drink hugely. Friday up early and out of the house for two rounds of golf. Then I intend to drink hugely. Saturday up a bit later and a single round of golf. Intention then is to drink hugely. Then up early for a medal on Sunday. Then Monday I am off to Vienna for a few days.
I suspect she's going to want a car or something after this.

Re: Who is up for golf in Bedford?
Well the Millbrook Members GC was excellent! Those who attended paid £27.50 for 36 holes of golf on a course you would normally pay £35.00 a round. An excellent heathland type course with lots of variety. Well worth the effort to get there and the food and beer in the club house was top banana. If you get the opportunity to play there next time around, I would thoroughly recommend it
