The Scottish Open came down to two picks making all the difference.  The selection of Kristoffer Broberg who finished second by 1GrumpyGolfer and the non selection of tournament winner Justin Rose by LadyPutt.

LadyPutt had five picks score points including two fourth placed finishes and low round bonus points but ultimately the lack of other high placed finishes cost her as she slipped back into third place.  SetupDetermines sneaked above LadyPutt after three picks scored points including Justin Rose.  He also had Matt Jones, who finished with a bit of a final round shocker, ending up in last place.  1GrumpyGolfer had four picks score points including a one, two finish from Rose and Broberg and that was enough to secure victory.  BlueCoverman also had four picks score points but only Rose was inside the top 10.  Davie had just one pick score but it was Rose so it was a pretty good one.  Mary_S had two picks score points plus had low round bonus points from Stephen Gallacher.  RedRage had just one pick score points.

Earlier in the day Felipe Aguilar shot 63 to set a new course record.  Later in the day Stephen Gallacher matched that score.  The ladies were the only ones who picked Gallacher.  Matt Jones finished with an 80 and slumped to last place.  SetupDetermines scored points from Jones.

The last event of this session will be the 143rd Open Championship from Royal Liverpool.

The official update shows that loads of points were scored in round 3. 66 was the low round and 4 blokes shot that including three picks. Nearly everyone scored at least 20 points from one of their picks shooting 66. Justin Rose, Pablo Larrazabal, and Craig Lee did just that and it was only RedRage who didn't pick any of these.

68 or lower was needed to get your picks into the Top 10 Low Round scores and a few other picks did just that. LadyPutt had three other picks score points as she moves into a tie with 1GrumpyGolfer who had two other picks score points.  SetupDetermines had another two picks score points and RedRage also had two picks score points.  BlueCoverman had another pick score points while Mary_S and Davie had to settle for a low round scorer as their source of points.

The worst score was 76 and a three players were five over par.  Fabrizio Zanotti, Gaganjeet Bhullar, and Kevin Phelan all had that score. No points awarded for the worst scores.

The cut line hovered at +1 before slipping to +2 and that allowed a few extra picks to sneak in and that meant good news for LadyPutt and SetupDetermines.  They both kept a full complement of Category B players and only lost one pick in total.  1GrumpyGolfer also lost one of his picks and along with LadyPutt and SetupDetermines had two cut bonuses.  BlueCoverman was the only other Fantasy Leaguer to earn a cut bonus as he kept all of his Categoary A picks; he's left with seven picks in total.  RedRage has six picks, equally spread, and both Davie and Mary_S have just four picks left.  Mary might want to reconsider her lucky numbers.

Paul Waring shot 66 for the round of the day as the course and conditions proved tougher going in round two.  Amateur Alexander Culverwell had an 81 to finish at the bottom of the heap.  No other bonuses were awarded in round two.

Last week there was a case of the haves and have nots with those that picked Graeme McDowell and those that didn't.  This week it is with Rory McIlroy.  McIlroy shot 64 to set a course record at Royal Aberdeen and only Davie and Mary_S didn't pick him.  Three other picks made the Top 5 Low Round picks by scoring 67 or better; 1GrumpyGolfer had two of them and LadyPutt they other.

Robert Rock and Jose Maria Olazabal share last place after rounds of 81 which was the worst of the day by two shots.

With the Open Championship fast approaching several players will be hoping that they can emulate Phil Mickelson in winning the Scottish Open and then lift the Claret Jug.  Mickelson will be hoping to match Graeme McDowell from last week by becoming the first to successfully defend the Scottish Open title.  In doing so he would be the fourth American to win the same European Tour event in back to back years.

Justin Rose is the highest ranked player in the field and Rory McIlroy is the only other player from the top 10 in the OWGR.  18 of the top 50 are undergoing links preparation under tournament conditions.

We are back to our regular three Categories but you still need to pick three, plus reserve, from each one.  The additional cut bonus points are still on offer this time around.  If you get all of your picks through in any category you get a small bonus.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, so cut points will be available; see above.

Everyone please notify others of changes in field before tournament starts and invalid or incomplete picks from participants.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.  Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Looks like Rory might lose his course record just hours after he set it. Ricardo Gonzalez -8 through 12 after going -7 for his last 7!

He says on his twitter account that he signed for an incorrect score. His card said he birdied 16 not 15.

Unofficial, as pretty drunk, update:

Loads of points scored in round 3 and that is official. 66 was the low round and 4 blokes shot that including three picks. Everyone scored at least 20 points most likely, but not swearing, to a pick shooting 66. Rose, Larrazabal, and Lee did just that.

68 got you into the top 10 low round scores and a few other picks did just that. From memory Broberg, McIlroy, Karlsson, Fowler, Lowry,  and Bjorn.

LadyPutt scored the most points with 50, next were 1GrumpyGolfer and SetupDetermines with 40. BlueCoverman has 30 points. RedRage, Davie, and Mary_S got 20 points.

The worst score was 76 and a couple of guys shot that number. No points awarded for the worst scores.

Your chopper could make all the difference.

Felipe Aguilar sets a new course record with a 63. Paul Casey could match him if he birdies the last.
