Facebook group anyone?

Just wondered if setting up a group on Facebook would help us to promote this site and attract new members? I'm sure those of us that use it will have lots of fellow golfers on our friends list, each of them a potential poster on here.

Any thoughts on the subject?

Don't know if it would do any good - but it could certainly do no harm!

Have you any experience of setting up FB groups? I've never done one but if someone else sets one up I'll certainly join

I'm not on Faceache, but not adverse to other methods of communication.

I'm happy to give it a go. Other forms of communication are also a good idea. I'm twitter although I seldom go on there, don't really know my way around it too well. Would also prefer to stay away from it as well as the darkside are using it quite a lot

Words with Friends on the iPhone is quite popular and has a chat facility.
Could try and spread the word on there?

I've got us a twitter account @GolfChatUK though I'm more of a reader than a tweeter. Push it occasionally though

Like SR I'm no on faceache either! Got rid of it owing to young daughter starting to us e meant she was to close to some of my past antics!

But certainly not a bad idea

I use FB a bit, and am a regular on Twitter. Agree that it can't do any harm as a promotional tool.

And I have D4S and Mary on FB - thanks for the "add" folks. Now we need a Golf Chat group page!

BTW I'll leave this thread here for the moment so people know where it is but tomorrow or when I get around to it, I'll move it to "off topic" as it isn't really golf!

I go on Facebook about once a month and always regret it. My wife has an old school friend on their and her posts are so inane they are almost funny. Daily update , went to work, came home...bus 5 mins late ....had tea, lasagne, watched TV and went to bed.
Why would anyone post that kind of thing ? Bizarre.

Anyway....back to topic..... I have created a facebook group and invited all the people from here that I have in my friends list. Hopefully everyone that uses it will join up and we can then use that to advertise this site to our other golfing buddies. Before we know it, some corporation will value us in the billions and we can all retire.

I've changed the settings in the group so that all the current members are now admins so get cracking and invite all your golfing buddies to join up.
